The Institute of Management Studies (IMS) produces innovative and world-renowned 4* research in the fields of economics, marketing, management, and occupational psychology at one of the most creative universities in the UK. The IMS is the result of a unique interdisciplinary collaboration that draws on the teaching of diverse yet complementary subjects in order to provide students with a distinct qualification, and with the skills that will allow them to stand out in an increasingly competitive economy. 

We are seeking a Lecturer in Applied Business (Careers and Employability) to lead on the support and promotion of employability skills and career preparedness in undergraduate and postgraduate students in areas related to Business and Management (specifically Economics, Management, Marketing and Applied Psychology). The ideal candidate will have a blend of understanding of labour market issues and challenges, industry requirements, as well as career guidance skills which can be transferred into a teaching setting. The role holder will work with staff internal and external to the IMS to achieve the employability objectives of the department. They will take responsibility for several activities inclusive of, but not limited to, the following: managing and delivering seminars, events, lectures and modules related to careers and employability; sourcing speakers (internal and external) to contribute to the above; working with academic staff to embed careers and employability across our academic portfolio and within our assessments; sustaining and further developing our professional mentoring scheme; managing our ongoing relationships with IMS alumni; overseeing the work experience, placement, and internship opportunities of students; growing our industry network of potential employers of IMS students; and engaging students to attend and make use of the above opportunities.

You will have: A good first degree in Business and/or Management, or a related field; and several years’ experience in a role that relates to careers advice/coaching, recruitment and development, and/or employee assessment in an organisation. For information and questions please contact Dr Jo Lloyd (j.lloyd@gold.ac.uk).
