This Research Associate post is a key role in the Alzheimer’s Research UK funded research project: ‘Predicting risk of dementia using routine primary care records’, developed collaboratively by Goldsmiths, University of London, University of Manchester, and with contribution from other partner universities. The project concerns the development of novel approaches to predicting dementia based on machine learning and statistical learning methods. Dr Daniel Stamate and his data science team at Goldsmiths lead on the machine learning aspects of the study. You will be part of this team working on analysing clinical data in particular primary care records such as CPRD, with machine learning methods.

We are seeking a candidate who is excited to advance the state of the art in research in predicting risk of dementia with modern machine learning methods, and who wants to create a next generation, AI based system for predicting risk of dementia from primary care records, which may prototype the first effective tool for dementia risk prediction for adoption by health professionals in the dementia prevention effort.

You should have experience of conducting research in machine learning, or in another area closely related to the project. You should have experience with coding in R or Python in data analysis work or software writing. Previous experience in interdisciplinary research in data science and medicine is a plus.
You will be responsible for the development of machine learning approaches to predicting the risk of dementia, and for contributing as necessary to the development of a prediction tool for the risk of dementia.
