This is an exciting time to work at Goldsmiths and build on our existing partnerships and achievements to lead a new Widening Participation team.

In this role, you will be leading a team of staff (3 FTE equivalent) to implement widening participation initiatives and programmes that make a positive impact for pre-16, post-16, and mature students. The team undertakes a range of work – schools and colleges liaison, summer schools (day and residential), on-campus visits, raising academic attainment, progression schemes, student mentoring, and subject conferences.

This role will involve working closely with our internal stakeholders (heads of department, academics and colleagues in the Student Success directorate) and partners and suppliers, such as the Brilliant Club, AimHigher London, Linking London, virtual schools, and HEAT.

You should have a good awareness and understanding of the needs of under-represented groups. This may include mature students, students with disabilities, first in family to go to HE, care experienced students, students from Low Progression Neighbourhoods, students from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds, and students estranged from their families.

We are looking for someone with a range of skills, who is able to manage people and resources, analyse and interpret widening participation metrics and data, implement the Theory of Change, influence and enthuse colleagues, prepare effective plans and strategies, manage budgets, and negotiate and agree shared objectives.

Due to the timings and locations of events and meetings, the role holder must be able to work and travel outside regular office hours, when required. The current working pattern is a mix of working from home and working on campus. The appointed candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring (DBS) Check.
