Senior Lecturer in Sociology
Salary:
Grade 9 (Senior Lecturer) £54,874 - £61,332 per annum
Full time, permanent post
New Cross, London

The Sociology Department at Goldsmiths is seeking to recruit a Senior Lecturer in Sociology with research interests in a complementary field to those in the Department. The post is full time (teaching and research contract).

The role will be principally to teach on the postgraduate MA in Brands, Communication and Culture (https://www.gold.ac.uk/pg/ma-brands-communication-culture), including the supervision of dissertations, but will also require the ability to contribute to teaching provision for our undergraduate students studying in the department. This may involve delivering an optional module in your research specialism or teaching on a core module such as social research methods or contemporary issues in social thought.

We encourage applications from those who will be able to teach on the core modules covering key debates in brands, communication and culture (the programme is sociologically and critically driven, engaging with issues of gender, colonial history and branding; brand identity, attachment and community; the cultural politics of branding; digital/ social media; and Science and Technology Studies).

You will join one of the of the largest and most innovative Sociology Departments in the UK offering a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in an institution specialising in the social sciences, arts and humanities. You will be expected to participate fully in departmental life, both our teaching and research.

You will have a PhD, teaching experience, and appropriate demonstrable research expertise.

All applicants are invited to submit a covering letter, foregrounding their research and teaching expertise and their suitability for the job, plus a curriculum vitae.

We are hoping to appoint to this post for a start in September 2019
