We are proud of our highly skilled, collaborative staff and of our unique resources, which enable us to support our community in their learning, teaching, scholarship and research.

About the role

With people at the heart of everything we do, as a Reader Services Supervisor you will manage, lead and motivate the front-line team for the library. You will develop and encourage a service culture where we adapt to and acknowledge the diversity of our visitors and what they aim to get out of their library visit. You will help people discover our wide range of resources and services and support our front-line teams in providing outstanding customer experiences.

The current working hours for this post are Wednesdays: 9am - 12.30pm, Thursdays: 9am - 5pm, Fridays: 9am - 5pm

About the candidate

We are looking for a confident, enthusiastic person to fill this varied and exciting supervisor role. The post will suit an organised individual who has a real interest in people and who enjoys challenges.

You will need to be an inspiring team leader and supportive team member, with the ability to work in an ever-changing environment. You will have a passion for learning, excellent communication and negotiation skills and a resourceful and resilient nature.

The Library space is highly valued by the Goldsmiths community, you will take responsibility for ensuring that all our visitors are welcome into a clean, safe environment that is inspiring and supports them to explore and learn.

You will ideally have some library knowledge and experience, but it will be your enthusiasm for helping others and devotion to customer care that makes you really stand out.

Goldsmiths is passionate about advancing equality and celebrating diversity. We particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic background applicants as this group is currently underrepresented in this part of the university.
