Lecturer in Music
The Department of Music at Goldsmiths, University of London is looking to recruit a .85 Lecturer in Music on a 3-year fixed-term contract (Teaching and Scholarship), with a specialism in popular music and/or jazz.
The Department of Music contributes to Goldsmiths' focus on creativity, innovation and interdisciplinarity. You will join a team of academic staff delivering our successful B.Mus. programme in Popular Music, on which you will coordinate and/or contribute to modules in popular music history, jazz and cultural theory. You will also contribute to our MA (Popular Music Research pathway). It is expected that you will develop innovative teaching approaches and materials for popular music and musicology within our curriculum, embracing the mix of academic and creative practice that underpins our teaching.
Your teaching experience should lie in popular music and/or jazz. Areas of desirable expertise here include Afro-diasporic musics and cultural theory. You will have teaching experience at HE level, with a demonstrable ability to engage and enthuse students in theoretical and practice-based work. You should have an undergraduate qualification in a relevant area; a postgraduate qualification or equivalent professional experience would also be desirable
