About the role
We are looking for an artist, art historian or theorist with experience of working in HE art education to teach critical studies on its sector leading MFA Fine Art programme. The MFA runs across two years, comprising Crits based on students’ studio practice, individual and group tutorials, developing research skills, and essay writing. The post involves teaching and assessment across both years of the MFA. You will also have responsibility for academic administration associated with teaching and assessment. You will help interview applicants and admit them to the programme. The post will require an average of two days of teaching per week during term time.
About the Candidate
You will be an artist, art historian or theorist with a professional record of international standing. You will have experience of teaching in HE Fine Art and be responsive to the varied and specific needs of those on this strongly student-centred course.The School expects that you will have an active and internationally recognised research profile, and that you will produce research outputs to be submitted to the REF. In this respect, please note the application requirements specified in the JD under the section Method of Application. You will demonstrate a serious engagement with your own practice, and an understanding of current and emerging theories, concepts and debates within the field of contemporary art.
