About the Department
Estates and Facilities Management is a specialist directorate within the University with an overall staff of approximately 100. It maintains and supports the University and its changing needs in respect of a number of disciplines including the following:
- estates strategy & strategic development
- capital projects, minor works and refurbishments
- maintenance (building and grounds), surveys, statutory compliance
- space utilisation & timetabling,
- energy and carbon management, environmental management
- facilities services including: cleaning, portering, security, switchboard, reception, postal services and stores;
- health and safety
- catering & conference services
About the Role
This role will support the activities of the College by carrying out portering duties; moving and delivering parcels, equipment and furniture etc. The position holder will use helpdesk software to receive, update and complete tasks on tablets, phones and PCs, they will construct and dismantle desks and similar flatpack type furniture. They will be required to drive the porters Luton van and other college vehicles as required. They will support the operations of the Post Room by operating equipment and carrying out general post room duties (sorting, franking, delivering etc.)
About the Candidate
You will have experience in working in a portering, post room or similar role and used to manual handling. You will be confident in using PCs, tablets and related devices for basic tasks. You will have a full driving licence and excellent communication skills both verbal and writing.
