Working under the direction of Professor Jonathan Freeman on the EDI workstream of the BFI Innovation Challenge Fund–funded project.

Key Responsibilities

1. Mapping and Analysis

  • Conduct desk research and a literature review to understand current activity—and gaps—in the EDI landscape.

  • Analyse existing data, public information, and research databases.

  • Draw on insights from the CoSTAR Foresight Lab to build a clear evidence base for engagement and scenario development.

2. Engagement Series

  • Lead and moderate stakeholder workshops focused on EDI, supported by the Challenge Fund Producer.

  • Share insights from the mapping work and gather lived-experience feedback to validate and refine findings.

  • Where relevant, co-host sessions with other workstreams (AI & Workforce, Carbon Leadership).

3. Foresight Scenario Development

  • Work with the Challenge Fund Producer to help develop future scenarios using CoSTAR Foresight Lab methodologies.

  • Contribute to workshops with stakeholders, experts, and the CoSTAR Foresight Board to identify signals, trends, and possible futures.

4. Prototype Interventions: Toolkits & Methods

  • Lead the creation of toolkits and methodologies addressing priority issues identified through Mapping, Engagement, and Scenario work.

  • Collaborate with the Challenge Fund Producer on design and development.

5. Place-Based Policy Pilots

  • Partner with the Foresight Lab Policy team to co-design and help deliver a place-based policy pilot.

  • Work with industry partners and a Combined Authority or Devolved Administration to test practical interventions.

6. Outputs & Dissemination

  • Produce accessible and engaging documentation across all tasks.

  • Contribute to reports, guides, toolkits, policy recommendations, and workshop materials.

  • Support development of rich media outputs (e.g., podcasts, videos, blog posts) to extend project reach.
