Assistant Department Business Manager
We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised individual to play a key role in the administrative support team of Goldsmith’s highly regarded Department of English & Comparative Literature. The team coordinates all student and staff affairs, and links the Department with the College’s central student support services, finance, procurement and human resources departments. You will find the Department a hard working group of individuals, who are friendly and collaborative.
You will be responsible for overseeing the coordination by support staff of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes; trouble-shooting issues; organising events in collaboration with academic leads; assisting with contractual and financial matters for non-established staff such as associate tutors and visiting lecturers; and attending committee meetings on behalf of the Department Business Manager.
You must have experience in the use of IT platforms and management systems to process multiple tasks, be highly competent in addressing problems under pressure, be organised, intuitive and respectful towards the needs of students and have line management experience. You must also have an understanding of the challenges facing the HE sector and be keen to explore ways to improve operational effectiveness at a departmental level in order to ensure student experience remains a priority.
