About the Department

2025 following a commitment by Oak Foundation in autumn 2024. The MFI is set to be a beacon of rigorous research, innovative policy solutions, and creative approaches to understanding and reshaping migration discourse. Through collaborative research and creative practice, the MFI will engage directly with migrants, working with them to generate new knowledge, cultivate understanding, and support their well-being, creative work, and social aspirations.

About the Role

Goldsmiths is seeking to appoint a fourth academic co-director with specialist expertise in migration. They will lead on public and social engagement, building networks and establishing new partnerships within, Lewisham, London and beyond, particularly initiatives working on and seeking to support those with migrant, refugee and diasporic backgrounds and experiences, as well as the groundwork and scoping for the University of Sanctuary application.

About the Candidate

You will have a vision for development of MFI as a platform to support migrant creative and intellectual lives and bring expertise in public and social engagement, broadly conceived, on themes related to migration. You will have evident networks and connections with relevant migrant, refugee and diasporic institutions and networks, as well as experience of working collaboratively with people and groups from migrant refugee and diasporic backgrounds.

We strongly encourage applications from colleagues from racialised, minority ethnic backgrounds, especially those with migrant, refugee or diasporic backgrounds and experiences.
