Faculty 1 delivers multi-disciplinary skills in a range of creative and critical practices, including filmmaking, photography, visual art, music, theatre, design, creative writing and critical theory. We are committed to putting our students first, by providing them with a creative environment that will prepare them for successful careers in their fields and will develop their critical thinking through doing and making.
Faculty 2 delivers practices across interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative solutions by delivering approaches to address social, cultural, economic, and environmental challenges and opportunities. Our wide range of disciplines including computing, social therapeutic and community studies, sociology, politics, history and law enrich social innovation by incorporating diverse perspectives and expertise. The core aim is to facilitate meaningful real-world impact.
About the Role
The Head of School (Psychology & Social Therapeutic and Community Studies & Educational Studies)drives forward the school strategy and leads the delivery of strategic objectives through innovative, inclusive and research approaches.
The Head of School is the interface between strategic and college level initiatives, giving strategic oversight with implementation methods suitably adapted for the needs of the school and the school culture. The Head of School provide an engaging student and staff experience, with clearly measurable outcomes.
The Head of School will report to the Executive Dean of Faculty, and will take strategic leadership of the school, bringing the different disciplinary cultures and identities of its newly combined component parts together in mutually enriching ways. The role holder will also contribute to pan-university activities defined by the broader strategic priorities set by the Executive Board.
The Head of School role is for a fixed 5-year tenure, with the potential to extend, subject to internal processes.

To be successful in this role you will draw on an established academic track record of research and leadership relevant to discipline. You are likely to be an inspiring and inclusive teaching and research-active leader who can articulate a compelling vision for the new school and inspire confidence and engagement. Key to this is embracing the whole ethos of an interdisciplinary approach across research and teaching to innovate and deliver a contemporary school-wide strategy. We work collaboratively and so key to developing the new school is a high level of proficiency in developing strategic partnerships within the school, wider University and with external stakeholders.
