About the department

Development and Fundraising is a strategic Directorate working with the Vice-Chancellor, Executive Board, academic departments and professional services to strengthen Goldsmiths’ long-term sustainability. Through fundraising, alumni relations, external engagement and partnership working, the Directorate builds meaningful relationships that enhance student success, support research excellence and deliver positive social impact.

About the role

The Development & Fundraising Operations Coordinator plays a key role in supporting Goldsmiths' fundraising and alumni engagement ambitions. Working as part of a collaborative Development & Fundraising team, you will help deliver engaging communications, events and stewardship activities that strengthen relationships with alumni, donors and supporters. Through effective coordination, high-quality data and operational insight, you will enable colleagues to build meaningful connections that inspire advocacy, philanthropic support and long-term engagement with Goldsmiths.

You will be a highly organised, proactive and collaborative professional with excellent communication and relationship-building skills. With experience of working with databases or CRM systems, you will understand how accurate data, effective coordination and operational insight support successful fundraising, alumni engagement and stakeholder engagement. About the department 

Estates and Facilities is a technical and specialist directorate of around 250 staff, responsible for maintenance, capital projects, statutory compliance, infrastructure and facilities services across the University's 16-acre New Cross campus, which spans a wide mix of historic, post-war and modern buildings.

About the role 

You will supervise and coordinate day-to-day electrical, mechanical and associated maintenance works across the estate, ensuring PPM, reactive and statutory compliance tasks are completed safely and to agreed service levels. You'll act as first point of technical escalation, oversee contractors, and support the maintenance team, reporting to the Head of Maintenance.

About the candidate 

You will hold a recognised electrical or mechanical qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent) with solid building maintenance or facilities management experience, including supervising staff or contractors. A strong understanding of M&E systems, current H&S legislation and the ability to read technical drawings are essential, along with a proactive, solutions-focused approach.

Recruitment, Partnerships and Marketing is responsible for attracting students to Goldsmiths – whether on our campus or at partner organisations through transnational education. The Recruitment team is responsible for creating leads with potential students through in-person activities at recruitment fairs and school and college visits in the UK and internationally, alongside digital engagement. The Partnerships team is responsible for delivering innovative academic partnerships in collaboration with higher education providers around the globe. They lead Goldsmiths’ transnational education partnerships, creating, developing, and managing academic partnerships in the UK and internationally. The Marketing team is responsible for driving positive brand engagement among students and their supporters. With a core focus on student recruitment, the team does this through compelling storytelling delivered through integrated campaigns across a range of channels and touchpoints including through the Recruitment and Partnerships teams.

We’re looking for a customer-focused individual to join us as Estates & Facilities Assistant. Working on Reception as part of our Help Desk team, they will be the first point of contact for calls to Goldsmiths on the main telephone number and staff and students reporting issues and requesting information and services on campus. The role also provides support to colleagues within the department.

You will have excellent communication and administration skills from working in a customer service environment. Proficient using Microsoft Office applications, internet-based software systems and attention to detail and accuracy. Understand the responsibilities and services of the department and its contribution to the student experience.

Estates and Facilities is responsible for the strategic management and operational delivery of the University's estate — over 80 buildings across a 16-acre campus in New Cross, London. Our Capital Projects team delivers a diverse programme of refurbishment, MEP, fire safety and infrastructure works across academic, residential and heritage buildings.

About the role

Working under the direction of the Head of Capital Projects, the post holder will take responsibility for the delivery of allocated capital and minor works projects and provide project management support on larger schemes. They will run procurement processes, administer contracts, engage stakeholders and support statutory compliance across a busy annual capital programme.

About the candidate

You will bring demonstrable construction project management experience with practical knowledge of construction contracts (JCT), public sector procurement and CDM 2015. You will be comfortable delivering multiple concurrent projects in live operational environments, engaging non-technical stakeholders, and contributing to a c.£3.5m annual capital programme.

Research & Knowledge Exchange 

The Department delivers the University’s Research and Knowledge Exchange Strategy. The Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and Knowledge Exchange provides academic leadership of this area, and the Department is under the strategic management of the Director of Research and Innovation who reports to the Pro Vice-Chancellor. The Department as a whole supports: the development of research and knowledge exchange bids; post award management (including statutory reporting); the University’s compliance with research-related codes of conduct and other regulatory requirements; business enterprise and knowledge transfer; the University’s REF submission; and civic and policy engagement.

GOAL 

Goldsmiths has set up a unit, called Goldsmiths Online and Adaptable Learning (GOAL) with the following mission:    

To provide an integrated learning eco-system that highlights what is best about Goldsmiths and reaches the people who can most benefit from what Goldsmiths has to offer, irrespective of physical location, time commitments, and educational backgrounds.    

Realising this mission will mean working with academic departments, professional services at Goldsmiths and external teaching, development, and delivery partners to deliver online and hybrid teaching across the University, including the development of short courses and micro-credentials, to provide flexible learning opportunities.

The role holder will be expected to proactively support relevant short course, CPD, and executive training opportunities, to heighten and maintain growth. This will involve day to day management and support for specific programmes, providing advice on promotional activities and solving day-to-day operational problems and challenges that may occur.
